At Breeding Insight’s inception in 2018, we began with six U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) breeding programs: alfalfa, blueberry, table grape, sweetpotato, rainbow trout and North American Atlantic salmon. In 2021, Breeding Insight added seven more programs: cranberry, cucumber, honey bee, lettuce, oat, pecan and strawberry. Additional ARS breeding programs will be included on roughly a two-year cycle.
All species and programs included in Breeding Insight are nominated and approved by the USDA-ARS Office of National Programs.
