Program Administration

In this training module users can learn:

  • About the different roles and permissions within DeltaBreed.
  • Add users and assign yourself as a Program Administrator within a program.
  • Create breeding program locations.
  • Add new breeding methods.
  • Share ontology with other same species programs (if applicable).
Types of Users and Permissions

Remember that your BI Coordinator can also help you assign roles and permissions within your program. Make sure that you share the ORCID associated email of the new user and what role you’d like them to have within your program.

System Administrator – your BI Coordinator and other internal BI staff. They have access to add programs and users and read only data in all DeltaBreed programs. System Administrators must be added to programs to Program Administrators to make edits.

Program Administrators can manage the program by importing and exporting data as well as assigning user roles.

Read Only users have access to the entire program in a read only role. They cannot import data and cannot assign roles within the program, but can download data.

Experimental Collaborators can only view the specific experiment(s) that they are assigned. They cannot import data and cannot view specific germplasm or ontology data. They cannot assign or edit roles within the program.

Add a user and assign a role

Users are added through Program Administration and assigned one of the roles discussed previously. Let your BI Coordinator know who you would like to have experimental collaborator access if that matches a need for your program.

Create breeding method, create locations and share ontology

DeltaBreed features over 60 breeding methods for users to choose from when importing germplasm. If you have a method that does not match one of DeltaBreed’s pre-formatted methods, you can easily add it in the user interface.

Locations can also be created when a user imports an experiment. This is the recommended way to add a location to a user’s breeding program.

Same species programs can choose to share an ontology. Discuss this option with your BI Coordinator as well as the other program before selecting that option.

Create breeding method, create locations and share ontology

Create breeding methods, locations and share ontology with other same species groups (optional) through program administration.
